Nearly 200 advocates gathered over three days in late May for a peaceful vigil outside Marshall BioResources in North Rose, organized by Beagle Lovers and Rescuers. The event brought together people from across the country to call for an end to the breeding of animals for experimentation and to demand freedom for the tens of thousands of animals confined at the facility.
A highlight of the weekend was an appearance by U.S. Congressman Nick Langworthy, who pledged to fight for an end to taxpayer-funded animal experimentation. As he told the crowd, “Not a single red cent of federal tax dollars should go to research that inflicts pain on these innocent animals.”
Since that gathering, the movement has celebrated a major victory: Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin, another notorious breeder of dogs for research, announced it is closing permanently and releasing its remaining dogs to rescue organizations. The closure is a powerful reminder that sustained public pressure can create real change.
Now, the movement continues.
Join Animal Rights Rochester and Against All Oddz Animal Alliance on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 for the Free the Dogs Rally at Marshall BioResources. This peaceful, nonpartisan protest and candlelight vigil will honor the animals who have suffered while calling for an end to animal testing and the breeding of animals for experimentation.
The event runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM both days, with a candlelight vigil Friday evening (8:30–11:00 PM). On Saturday at 12:00 PM, New York’s 23rd Congressional District Democratic nominee Aaron Gies will join the rally to speak in support of ending animal testing.
