Garden Brothers Circus Protest 4/27-28

Elephants in the circus have their babies taken from them at a very young age.

Garden Brothers Circus (aka Piccadilly Circus if you Google it) is coming to the Main Street Armory (900 E Main Street, Rochester, NY) for four shows: 4:30 and 7:30 on 4/27 & 4/28.  Their record of USDA citations for violations of the minimum standards of the Animal Welfare Act is available online, and there’s also a 2013 whistleblower’s sworn affidavit of “routine physical abuse and neglect.”  Find out more about animal circuses at Born Free.  Are you happy an animal circus has come to town?  If not, please come out to express your dissent and raise awareness among attendees.

We will be silently protesting three of the shows:

Wed 4/27 3:00 – 4:30 pm
Wed 4/27 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Thur 4/28 3:00 – 4:30 pm

Thank you to Mary, who will be leading one show and co-leading another.

We have many signs, and leaflets available if you choose to do that instead – just bring yourself and dress comfortably – maybe spring will arrive by then, but consider bringing one level warmer clothing than you think you need and remember your hands will be exposed for 90 min.  Umbrellas are fine.

Parking will be on street.  We don’t have permission to park in any lots.  We will be standing on the public sidewalk.

It is helpful, though not required, if you RSVP.   Rain or shine, but in case of potentially dangerous weather please watch our web site (or if you RSVP’d, your email).
