From Rochester to Ridglan: The Fight for Dog’s Lives

Whether in the streets of Rochester or behind the gates of notorious Wisconsin breeder Ridglan Farms, the law is failing animals. It’s time we step in.
“Animals have no voice. It is our duty to function as their voice through the court systems, through the streets and through social media.” — Matt Albert
Earlier this year, Rochester animal rights attorney Matt Albert and the nonprofit Against All Oddz Animal Alliance filed a landmark lawsuit against the Rochester Police Department (RPD). The Police Department failed to enforce New York State’s animal cruelty laws on city residents who left their dogs chained outside through the bitter winter.
Activists Adam Durand and Jami Sassone have their sights set on Ridglan Farms, an animal research puppy mill with conditions so terrible they’re being forced to shut down this summer. But until then, law enforcement is letting them continue to abuse and kill 2,000 beagles. Adam was an organizer at a previous action on March 15 where they rescued 22 dogs in broad daylight. Now, the two will return with thousands of other rescuers to get every dog out and into loving homes.
Join us for a high-stakes briefing as we bridge the local fight in Rochester to a national movement, challenging the courts and society to stop seeing animals as property and start seeing them as lives who matter.

What We’ll Discuss:

The Rochester Lawsuit: Matt Albert will break down the legal action against the RPD and why forcing police to enforce NY Agriculture and Markets Article 26 is the key to saving local animals.

The Ridglan Rescue: A first-hand briefing from the activists who liberated 22 beagles from Ridglan Farms on March 15—and why they are returning with 2,000 people on April 19.

The “Right to Rescue”: How the same legal principles Matt Albert uses in Rochester courtrooms are being used nationwide to secure legal standing for animals, transforming them from mere objects into beings with rights.

A Call to Action: How you can support the local lawsuit and the mass mobilization in Wisconsin.
